The Proteoglycan Consortium is the organisation that drives the direction and development of the Proteoglycan Atlas. Newly established in 2025, the Proteoglycan Consortium aims to build a worldwide network of proteoglycan researchers that organise and collate proteoglycan data for incorporation into the Proteoglycan Atlas.

Vision

To define and decode proteoglycans for the advancement of human health

Misson

To create a Proteoglycan Atlas knowledge base for human health that serves as a central resource with scientific purpose for use by a wide range of cross-sectorial scientific audiences including cancer, rare diseases, drug design, medicine, diagnostics, biopharma, chemistry and bioengineering, etc.

Objectives

  • To establish the first exhaustive list of known proteoglycans

  • To collect and curate data on proteoglycans

  • To develop online open access infrastructure for proteoglycan data

  • To connect proteoglycan structural and functional data

  • To connect the PG-Atlas with other open access data sources
